The first two medical cannabis licenses
Following the law approved by the Greek government authorizing the production of medical cannabis in Greece, two medical cannabis licenses have been already issued to two private companies allowing the cultivation and processing of medical cannabis products.
According to the Economy and Development Ministry, these first licensed hemp greenhouses are expected to invest a combined 22 million euros.
These first two installation permits, according to the announcements announced on 19 November 2018 at a joint press conference by Health Minister Andreas Xanthos, Deputy Minister of Economy and Development Stergios Pitsiorlas and the Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food Vasilis Kokkalis are granted to the following companies:
Biomecann S.A. : The first license was given to BIOMECANN SA for an investment of 9.5 million euros, which will produce dried flower in packaging. The unit's facilities will be located on 1.1 hectares of land outside the central Greek city of Larissa.
Bioprocann S.A. : The second license was given to Bioprocann SA for an investment of 12.5 million euros, which also produce dried flowers. The second unit will take up 4.6 hectares, outside the southern central city of Corinth.
